Adult Type 2 Diabete

by Kerry Ng

1. Adult type 2 diabetes 2. Type one or child diabetes 3. Gestational diabetes

All three types are basically diabetes and have similar symptoms, however each one of these types has a different onset time and development.

Adult Type 2 Diabetes

The adult type 2 diabetes is usually associated with being overweight, although no one knows exactly what triggers it. With this particular type of diabetes, the insulin becomes less and less effective and as a result, the sugar starts to build up in the blood system. This is known as "insulin resistance" in medical terms. When this happens, and this usually happens with adults, the person is found to suffer from adult type 2 diabetes.

This type of diabetes is an extremely common occurrence in todays society. At the time of this writing, it is estimated that 1 in 90 people suffer from adult type 2 diabetes. Though this type of diabetes usually occurs in older adults, it has been observed lately that it is affecting younger people too.

What Exactly Is Insulin Resistance?

When the insulin, normally produced in ones own body, fails to regulate the sugar, this is known as insulin resistance. This type is also known as "beta cell failure". Some of the main symptoms are as follows;

* All of a sudden, theres a high percentage of glucose in your blood * You will notice a steady increase in your blood pressure * There is a sudden raise in the fat levels in the blood, thus making the arteries more susceptible to clogging which may result in serious heart problems * You develop a good deal of gout; meaning acute joint pain

What Are The Most Common Symptoms Of This Disease?

Basically all three types of diabetes share the same types of symptoms. For example, the person will feel very thirsty and will urinate often, feels fatigue almost all the time, will notice a sudden weight loss (though the weight loss may not be too substantial), there maybe a sudden itchiness around the genitalia area (caused by a yeast infection common with diabetics), get skin infections and irritation very frequently.

What Can You do if You Suffer From Adult Type 2 Diabetes

* Watch your diet so that sugar will be kept in check * Increase your intake of fiber and eliminate as much fat as possible * Measure your blood glucose levels regularly and inject yourself with insulin when required * Keep your doctors number handy just in case of an emergency where you need expert medical advice and/or medical help
